(Corbin, KY) It's game one of the semi-finals of the 13th Region Girls Basketball Tournament. Tonight's matchup will feature the South Laurel Lady Cardinals verses the Knox Central Lady Panthers.
Knox Central comes in with a 25-4 record on the season. South Laurel comes in with a 24-5 record on the season.
Knox Central was led by Halle Collins with 14 points going 7-18 from the field, grabbing 12 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals. Shelbie Mills with 12 points going 3-11 from the field 0-3 from three 6-6 from the free throw line, 2 assists and 1 steal. McKenzie Hensley with 7 points going 2-5 from the field 3-4 from the free throw line, grabbing 3 rebounds, 1 assist and 1 steal. Hannah Melton with 5 points 2-7 from the field 1-2 from the free throw line, grabbing 6 rebounds and 1 steal. Kaylynn Smith with 4 points going 1-3 from the field 1-3 from three 1-2 from the free throw line. Kelsie Smith going 0-3 from the field 0-3 from three, and grabbing 1 rebound. Zoey Hamilton went 0-1 from the field. Sydney Hurst grabbing 4 rebounds and 1 block. Maggie Gibson went 0-1 from the field.
South Laurel was led by Maci Messer with 15 points going 5-10 from the field 1-1 from three 4-8 from the free throw line, grabbing 10 rebounds, 4 assists and 2 steals. Callie Jones with 12 points going 5-7 from the field 1-3 from three 1-3 from the free throw line, grabbing 2 rebounds and 5 assists. Skeeter Mabe with 10 points going 4-8 from the field 1-2 from three 1-2 from the free throw line, grabbing 6 rebounds, 1 assist and 2 steals. Jamie Buenaventura with 7 points going 3-6 from the field 0-2 from three 1-2 from the free throw line, grabbing 11 rebounds and 1 assist. Aubrey Bundy with 6 points going 2-8 from the field 2-4 from three, grabbing 3 rebounds, 2 assists and 1 steal. Ryleigh Bretz with 2 points going 1-2 from the field, grabbing 2 rebounds. South Laurel will improve to 25-5 record on the season. Knox Central will end there 2024-2025 season with a 25-5 record.
South Laurel will advance to the championship game of the 13th Region Tournament where they will wait the winner of the North Laurel vs Corbin game, game-time is set for Saturday at 7:00 PM
