Lady Cardinals roll into 13th Region Semi-finals with a 58-30 win over the Lady Generals

(Corbin, KY) It's game number two of the Martin's Peterbilt 13th Region Girls Basketball Tournament. Our second matchup will feature the champions out of the 50th District the South Laurel Lady Cardinals verses the runners-up out of the 49th District the Jackson County Lady Generals.

South Laurel comes in with a 23-5 record on the season. Jackson County comes in with a 14-14 record on the season.

South Laurel was led by Maci Messer with 17 points, going 6-12 from the field, 2-4 from three, 3-6 from the free throw line, grabbing 4 rebounds, and 2 steals. Aubrey Bundy with 12 points, going 4-6 from the field, 3-4 from three, 1-2 from the free throw line, grabbing 1 rebound. Callie Jones with 11 points, going 4-10 from the field, 3-6 from three, grabbing 3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steals. Skeeter Mabe with 6 points, going 2-5 from the field, 1-1 from three, 1-2 from the field, grabbing 3 rebounds, 7 assists, 1 block, and 2 steals. Jamie Buenaventura with 4 points, going 2-8 from the field, grabbing a team high 7 rebounds, 3 assists, and 7 steals. Ryleigh Bretz with 2 points, going 0-2 from the field, 2-4 from the free throw line, grabbing 4 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block and 1 steal. McKenzie Fannin with 2 points, going 1-3 from the field, grabbing 2 rebounds. Emma Adams went 0-1 from the field, and 0-1 from three. Jackson County was led by Abby Gilbert with 18 points, going 5-15 from the field 8-8 from the free throw line, grabbing a team high 12 rebounds, 1 assists, and 3 blocks. Baylee Berry with 5 points, going 2-7 from the field, 0-1 from three, 1-2 from the free throw line, grabbing 3 rebounds, and 2 steals. Larkin Vaughn with 3 points, going 1-3 from the field, 1-3 from three, grabbing 3 rebounds. Kara Harris with 2 points, going 1-1 from the field, and 1 steal. Hannah Jackson with 2 points, going 1-2 from the field, grabbing 1 rebound, and 1 assist. Sammie Creech going 0-2 from the field, 0-1 from three and 1 assist. Blakelynn Fee with 1 steal. Rylee Bowman grabbing 1 rebound. Sadie Turner with 1 block.

South Laurel will improve to 24-5 record on the season. Jackson County will end there 2024-2025 season with a 14-15 record.

South Laurel will advance to the 13th Region Tournament semi-finals on Friday Night as they will face the Knox Central Lady Panthers, game-time is set for 6:00 PM.
