(Lexington, KY) It's championship day of the 2025 Clark's Pump-N-Shop Softball State Tournament which is being held at John Cropp Stadium on the campus of the University of Kentucky. Our State Championship game will be against the Assumption Rockets verses the Henderson County Lady Colonels. Assumption will be representing the 7th Region. Henderson County will be representing the 2nd Region.
Assumption comes in with a 34-6 record on the season. Henderson County comes in with a 33-7 record on the season.
Assumption road to the State Championship game: in the first round they defeated Oldham County 4-2 in the first round, Harrison County 6-0 in the quarterfinals, Lawrence County 7-2 in the semi-finals.
Henderson County Road to the State Championship game: in the first round they defeated North Laurel 4-1, in the quarterfinals they defeated Daviess County 7-0, in the semi-finals they defeated Scott County 11-8.
This game would remain scoreless until the top of the second inning when a fielder's choice by Campisano on a ground ball to the shortstop that allows Oaks to score to make the score 1-0 Assumption.
Lady Colonels gets on the board when Bennett doubles to centerfield that allow Duncan to score to tie the game up at 1.

Then in the top of the third inning the Rockets retake the lead when Oaks singles to right field to score Satterly that makes the score 2-1 Assumption.

In the top of the seventh inning Sanders hits a hard ground ball for a single that would score Wells and Wagner to make the score 4-1 Assumption.
As we head to the bottom of the seventh inning what's at stake for the Lady Colonels they need 3 runs to tie the game and they need 4 to become back to back State Champions. The inning started with a single by Burczyk to center field. Then a walk by Kemp. Risley pops out to the second baseman. Then Bennett comes up to hit a single to center field that would allow Sword to score to make the score 4-2 Assumption. Then a fielder's choice by Gardner and then a grounder to end the game.
