Spencer Brown More Than A Coach

In media writing sports stories is something we do,  we talk about the joys of winning, also the sorrows of loosing. We talk about our predictions, and at times controversial issues. Then they are times you just see a little more. I have had a couple of opportunities to cover a hard working group of girls. The more I have, the more I have came to appreciate this team. The work WCMS Softball Coach Spencer Brown does for them, and his staff, will leave a legacy way past their softball careers. Spencer is a humble man, and he would be the first to say its all about his team, not me. But for once coach, let it be about you some, you earned it.

Spencer is the kind of coach who puts his team first, always. Day after day, he drives straight from work to practice or games, never letting a single challenge or obstacle stand in the way of giving his players the best possible experience. His dedication to this team goes beyond the field; he truly invests in their growth as athletes and as individuals.

He pushes his players to be the best they can be, not by demanding perfection, but by encouraging them to believe in their abilities and work together as a family. And that’s the core of who he is — a coach who sees his team not as a group of individuals, but as a family. His huddle break out is something that his team knows by heart: “Family on three. One, two, three, family!” It’s that mentality that has fostered a strong sense of unity and support among his players, and it’s no surprise that his players feel inspired, empowered, and ready to reach for their dreams.

But what truly sets Spencer apart is his humility. After a victory, he’s the first one to celebrate his players, lifting them up and letting them know how proud he is of their hard work. But when the team falls short, he’s the first to admit when he’s been outcoached, teaching his players the value of accountability, growth, and perseverance.

His impact is far-reaching. He inspires countless youth players to strive for excellence and to chase after their dreams of making it to the next level in their softball careers. Spencer leads with integrity, passion, and a heart that always puts others before himself.

He is not just a coach; he’s a role model, a mentor, and an incredible human being. Most importantly a friend

Thank you Coach
